The Jeffersonian - BGE Home to move to Crossroads @ 95
  Business in Brief
by Lauren Taylor

BGE Home will relocate its headquarters and warehouse operations from Columbia to Baltimore Crossroads @95, a 1,000-acre business park that opened in October, county officials said.

BGE Home plans to build a 55,000-square-foot facility by late 2007, officials said.

The company will employ about 400 people, many of whom will be on the road regularly, at the park, said Jim Lighthizer, a partner in the Chesapeake Real Estate Group, which is developing the site with Prudential Real Estate Investors.

BGE Home is the second major tenant announced at the park. The first - in October 2005 - was Alexander's Mobility Services, a moving a storage company that leased 130,000 square feet in the park in preparation for its move from Rosedale.

"BGE Home's decision to locate their headquarters at Baltimore Crossroads @95 continues what we expect will be an influx of new jobs and opportunities," County Executive Jim Smith said in a statement.
